SAFETY & RELIABILITY
Safety and reliability are necessary in all district facilities. They provide critical behind-the-scenes support for our students and staff. But the current condition of our transportation and outdoor facilities drain financial resources, pose potential safety hazards, and exacerbate workforce shortages.

For years, the district has performed regular maintenance on its bus garage, but it is past the point of basic upkeep. The stadium’s seating is not currently compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, and its fencing is coming out of the ground. The tennis courts are badly cracked and pose safety risks to Amherst student-athletes and their competitors.
WHY ISSUE 10
Issue 10 on the November ballot funds the plan to address Amherst Schools’ most pressing facilities needs. It adds $4.52 a month (per $100,000 appraised property value) to the $2.81 per month you are currently paying. By law, funds from Issue 10 cannot be used for salaries or operations – only safety and reliability in facilities that support education.
